Our Birds

This is Cody our Sun Conure He was born Sept.23, 1999 Cody can not say his name so he changed his name to Wick a wick he can say that. Every time I would call him Cody he would get mad and say wick a wick. Chewy could say her name and he wanted to say his name. So we changed his name but I still call him both names. He is a very good bird the only time he yells is when he needs something... you take care of what he needed and he is a quiet little boy again. Cody can also say some words... he does not talk as plain as other parrots but we can still understand him... he says, Night night when he is ready to go to bed. Thank you, Chewy, Rabbit, Mary, Momma, I love you. Momma Come Now. I do go when he says Momma come now. He can also say... That was grandma. Sun Conure's can get very noisy but he is pretty good for the most part. When he was a baby I was hand feeding when I first brought him home even though he was old enough to do just fine with out the hand feedings.. I did enjoy feeding him for a short time as I got the pleasure of weaning him from the feedings. I learned a bird will do certain things for attention. Yelling is one of them.... I did not like his yelling so when he would yell I ignored him. When he was quiet I went over and played with him and gave him all the attention he wanted. This was the best thing I did since now he only yells when he really needs something like wanting to be covered up or his water got dirty or something like that now. Once I take care of his problem he is a quiet little bird again. Cody loves to play hide and seek with a towel or shirt tail while you are holding him.
This is a peach faced love bird. Her name is Chewy. I will try to get more pictures of Chewy. She is such a happy delightful bird she makes us laugh every day. She can say some words like Chewy, Chewy Dew, SHHHHH, Gypsy... which means 2 things in the evening she wants to go to bed and other times she is warning you she can not control her biting...OUCH...She bites really hard. She did not start biting until she started laying eggs... Now we can no longer hold her because she bites to hard. We had a dog named Gypsy and every night we would call him to go out side before retiring for the night and she picked that up as going to bed which when she lays eggs she wants to bite. She loves music and will ask for that song again.
